The stepmother of missing Portland boy Kyron Horman has been denied a temporary stalking protective order against a Washington woman who allegedly posted missing-child posters outside a Eugene business last week where Terri Moulton Horman was working.
According to papers filed in Lane County Circuit Court on Wednesday, Horman wrote she is fearful of Stacey Green, 35, of Cowlitz County, “and her cohorts (who) have demonstrated repeatedly that they will physically, verbally and in written form, threaten me and have done so obsessively for over four years.
“They are now escalating in this behavior to where I fear they will kill me.”
Judge Charles Carlson denied the petition.
Kyron Horman was 7 years old when he went missing in 2010. Terri Horman was said to be the last person to see the boy. She has denied that, and has never been named a person of interest or suspect in the case.
However, intense public scrutiny led Horman to file two petitions to change her name last year. The first petition, in Douglas County, was denied; the second, in Lane County, was withdrawn, as Horman wrote in the stalking order application, “because I was fearful that (Green) would harm me due to her comments online that she planned to physically confront me.”
Recently, Horman was hired by Salem-based nonprofit human services organization Shangri-La in November as a mental health support specialist in Eugene.
Since that time, however, Green is alleged to have continually posted about Horman to Green’s numerous social media accounts that advocate for finding the missing boy.
One such post, on Green’s “Eugene Oregon Supports Justice for Kyron Horman” Facebook page, reads “Do you live by a house owned by Shangri-La in Eugene? Keep checking out your windows. ... If you see Terri Horman, please ask her where Kyron is!”
Other posts to Green’s Twitter include, “I was in Eugene today. :) Terri, we see you ;)” and “Terri, Shangri-La, ya’ll haven’t seen the last of us... and that’s a promise! I said we would be back and I always do what I say!”
Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin confirmed police dispatch received a call Feb. 13 at 4:41 p.m. from someone at the Pearl Buck Center, where Horman had met with her manager for a work meeting. The caller reported that a vehicle had been circling the business, putting up fliers on the West First Street property and had been repeatedly coming to the location, despite having been asked to not return.
McLaughlin said there was no case or report related to the incident.
Horman, in her letter to the court, writes that she “wants nothing more than Kyron to be found and safely returned home.”
Formerly of Roseburg, Horman’s petition lists her as a resident of Lane County.
When reached by phone today, Horman said she had no comment.
Green said she was unaware that Horman’s petition had been filed, but said she was “impressed that the judge in this case could see that this is nothing but an attempt by Terri Moulton Horman to silence my right to free speech.”
“For nearly five years, thousands of people have asked Terri Moulton Horman one simple question: where is Kyron?” Green said. “She has never answered that question, and this attempt to deflect attention from herself and onto me is further proof that it is a question she has no intention of answering. ... I ask again: Terri, where is Kyron?”
